Aesthetic Inlay, Onlay Fillings
Porcelain inlay and onlay fillings are a type of filling that is more aesthetically preferred, developed in response to the disadvantages of composite fillings and amalgam fillings. There is some shrinkage, albeit a small amount, during the construction of composite beam fillings. Amalgam fillings are not preferred in terms of aesthetics. Porcelain fillings are used to eliminate such undesirable situations.

Inlays and onlays are a form of treatment between filling and crown (coating) in some cases. Inlay and onlay fillings offer a very good solution when there is not enough tooth structure to support the filling and if the tooth is not damaged enough to be covered with a crown.

What is Inlay Onlay?
When it comes to aesthetic dental fillings, inlay and onlay fillings come to mind first. Compared to inlay fillings, the application area of onlay fillings is wider. Inlays are also very similar to fillings. It is applied between the hillocks called tubercles on the chewing surfaces of the teeth. Onlays are made to cover one or more tubercles.

Standard fillings should not be preferred if more than half of the tooth surface has been lost due to caries and trauma. When a crown (coating tooth) is considered for these teeth, the natural tooth structure is cut unnecessarily. In such cases, the best choice would be inlay and onlay fillings.

How Are Inlay Onlay Porcelain Fillings Made?
After cleaning the caries on the teeth, the cavity is prepared and the tooth is measured. The filling is prepared with state-of-the-art instruments in a sterile laboratory environment according to the measurement taken from the tooth. The prepared filling is successfully adhered within the time told to the patient.

What are the Advantages of Inlay / Onlay Porcelain Fillings?
No unnecessary cutting is done on the teeth. As with laminate veneers, healthy tooth tissue is protected at the maximum level.
It is very resistant to the pressures that occur during chewing.
Since it is the same color as the tooth, it looks so natural that it cannot be noticed by the eye. This is because porcelain materials are used in the filling and these materials reflect light well. In this way, it gives an aesthetic appearance to the natural tooth.
Since it is made of porcelain material, it does not discolor over time as in other fillings.
The life of inlay and onlay fillings is longer than other fillings.
There is no wear or breakage according to time and usage.
Besides being finished in a short time (2 sessions), it is aesthetic.
Since the porcelain surfaces are polished, food wastes are non-stick and hygienic. Bacterial plaque retention is low.
Since the filling material is porcelain, the hot-cold sensitivity experienced in other fillings does not occur and decay does not occur again.
It adapts perfectly to the tooth cavity with the measurements taken on the tooth. It imitates the missing contours of the tooth and the contact points with the neighboring teeth, anatomically close to perfection. In this way, the accumulation of food waste between the teeth is minimized.
Since special bonding technique is used, there is no edge leakage.
